SMSHE offers educational meetings and events throughout the year. Our educational meetings are designed to provide to our members and guests information regarding regulatory compliance and new technology designed for healthcare facilities. Lunch is provided at the meetings by SMSHE, or the presenter. Our meetings are typically held at the Engineering Society of Detroit in Southfield or at a local healthcare facility.

Other events provided by SMSHE are our holiday luncheon and annual business meeting, networking events, SMSHE Schmooze (in conjunction with the AIA Healthcare conference), and our annual golf outing.

PRESENTATION:

Ventilation Management Plan (VMP) Deployment: Leveraging ASHE/ASHRAE Guideline 43 to Prioritize Strategic Infrastructure Investment

 Presentation Synopsis:

Health care infrastructure is aging rapidly, with the average age of plants now exceeding 13 years after decades of underinvestment. While hospitals face rising operational, regulatory and environmental pressures, new opportunities are emerging to redefine the ROI of infrastructure investment. ASHE and ASHRAE’s Guideline 43 enables facility leaders to link ventilation management, asset performance and operational flexibility directly to financial outcomes and patient care. By aligning innovation with capital strategy, organizations can elevate infrastructure from a cost center to a business value driver.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define ASHE/ASHRAE Guideline 43 and explain how its comprehensive approach to ventilation management establishes a new framework for operating and evaluating HVAC infrastructure within health care facilities.
  2. Understand how infrastructure performance can be directly connected to financial outcomes, enabling leaders to redefine ROI by linking HVAC and facility investment decisions to measurable operational and economic impacts.
  3. Identify how ventilation and infrastructure management can strengthen patient care outcomes, demonstrating the connection between optimized HVAC performance, environmental quality, and safe, reliable clinical environments.
  4. Recognize how a policy-driven Ventilation Management Program (VMP) enables facility leaders to re-engage executive stakeholders, elevating infrastructure from a capital expense to a strategic business asset that supports long-term organizational performance.
