Important Updates – Joint Commission Changes
Effective January 1, 2026, the Joint Commission will implement its new Accreditation 360 model for hospitals and critical access hospitals. This includes:

  • Consolidation and simplification: Standards aligned with CMS Conditions of Participation, removing duplication.
  • Reduced standards: Over 700 standards eliminated from the hospital accreditation framework.
  • Outcomes-based focus: Emphasis on performance outcomes rather than process compliance.
  • New National Performance Goals (NPGs): Replacing National Patient Safety Goals, including nurse staffing as NPG 12.
  • Public access: Standards will be available on the Joint Commission website.

We look forward to seeing you at the holiday luncheon and starting the new year strong together!
