SUMMARY:Educational Meeting - Ventilation Management Plan (VMP) Deployment
DESCRIPTION:SPEAKER BIO: \nMark Mochel\, MBA\, CHFM\, FACHE\, SASHE\, ACABE \nFounder and Principal \nBefore founding I2HC\, Mark was a Strategic Account Executive at Brightly\, A Siemens Company. Prior to Brightly\, he was a Co-Founder and Senior Vice President at Facility Health Inc.\, where he was instrumental in introducing new infrastructure investment solutions and benchmarking capabilities to the healthcare industry. Mark has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University\, an MBA from The University of Michigan\, and has held executive leadership roles in multiple industries\, providing a unique perspective on the challenges facing healthcare facility management today. As an advocate for increased infrastructure investment in our industry\, and a member of the ASHE National Advisory Board\, Mark is passionate about sharing his experience with all who serve and are served through the environment of care. \nPRESENTATION: \nVentilation Management Plan (VMP) Deployment: Leveraging ASHE/ASHRAE Guideline 43 to Prioritize Strategic Infrastructure Investment \n Presentation Synopsis: \nHealth care infrastructure is aging rapidly\, with the average age of plants now exceeding 13 years after decades of underinvestment. While hospitals face rising operational\, regulatory and environmental pressures\, new opportunities are emerging to redefine the ROI of infrastructure investment. ASHE and ASHRAE’s Guideline 43 enables facility leaders to link ventilation management\, asset performance and operational flexibility directly to financial outcomes and patient care. By aligning innovation with capital strategy\, organizations can elevate infrastructure from a cost center to a business value driver. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDefine ASHE/ASHRAE Guideline 43 and explain how its comprehensive approach to ventilation management establishes a new framework for operating and evaluating HVAC infrastructure within health care facilities.\nUnderstand how infrastructure performance can be directly connected to financial outcomes\, enabling leaders to redefine ROI by linking HVAC and facility investment decisions to measurable operational and economic impacts.\nIdentify how ventilation and infrastructure management can strengthen patient care outcomes\, demonstrating the connection between optimized HVAC performance\,environmental quality\, and safe\, reliable clinical environments.\nRecognize how a policy-driven Ventilation Management Program (VMP) enables facility leaders to re-engage executive stakeholders\, elevating infrastructure from a capital expense to a strategic business asset that supports long-term organizational performance.\n\nLunch / Meeting sponsored by Infrastructure Investment HC\, L.L.C.

SUMMARY:IES Detroit | April Meeting Lighting for NICU - Illuminating Engineering Society
DESCRIPTION:Come join SMSHE and the IES Detroit Section for Volume 3 of the IES Detroit Healthcare Series \nNICU LIGHTING with Laurie Emery \nLighting for the NICU Space: Supporting Health\, Comfort\, and Wellbeing of Neonates\, Family and Staff through Lighting Design \nDescription:\nThe NICU is a complex medical environment\, and at any time there will be vulnerable newborn infants\, family members and professional medical staff occupying the area\, requiring thoughtful application of the lighting design. This course will focus on lighting design strategies that meet the standards and best practices for NICU patient rooms and their unique illumination needs. This course will also address special lighting for the treatment of infants with medical conditions unique to neonates including addressing the body’s photo-biological response to daylight and the visual lighting spectrum and how to apply it. The lighting design intent in the NICU is to create a space for healing\, care\, and respite for the newborns\, their families\, and caregivers. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the end of this course participants will be able to:\n• Describe a neonate’s eye development and the importance of lighting design to ensure proper light levels for their development while safely protecting their vision\n• Discuss the body’s biological and physiological responses to light and how it relates to the wellbeing of the neonate and their families in NICU environments\n• Explain need for cycled light\, daylight and proximity to the newborns as well as family members and staff\n• Categorize different NICU Care Room layouts and compare lighting solutions to create a comfortable and safe outcome for neonates\, families\, and caregivers \nTarget Audience:\nArchitects\, Interior Designers and other design professionals. The ideal audience size can be 10-30 people. This program is basic and meets the needs\nof professionals at every experience level. \nIES DETROIT April 2025 meeting \nLighting For NICU AIA_HSW \nThere is promo code for SMSHE members for a reduced fee of $25.  Please enter the promo code upon registration to see this ticket. \nPromo Code: SMSHE \nRegister by clicking on the Website Link below.
